Welcome to my Web site!I am an enthusiastic urban language arts and science teacher. I have designed this website so that I can share my love and knowledge of teaching children. I believe that there are increasingly high standards placed on educators. I believe these standards are set- not to frustrate students, parents, and teachers alike- but to ensure that all students develop and master scientific reasoning abilities. Educational standards, nationally and at the state and district level, are in place because there is a keen awareness of their value. Strong writing skills can be transferred in other academic areas. In addition, these dexterities are the basis for the increasingly technical and highly competitive career choices in this millennium. Using technology in middle school language art classes will encourage deep thinking skill, facilitate building core content knowledge, and essentially prepare students for bright futures ahead. Throughout my five years of teaching, I have been engaged in various professional growth activities. I recently completed my master's in Educational Policy and Leadership at Marquette University. I participated in programs sponsored by the National Endowment for Humanities (2000) and the Fulbright Memorial Fund Program (2001). I am currently taking post graduate courses that investigates how to best use technology within an educational setting and working towards National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in early adolescent language arts.
